A Virginia native, Zane and his wife, Nancy, resided in Arlington before moving full-time to Worton, MD, in 2006. His daughters, Sage and Shana, live in upstate New York.
Zane earned a BFA at Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, where he majored in commercial arts. After graduation, he relocated to metropolitan Washington, DC, and worked at a variety of design firms and ad agencies before launching his own business at age 27. Over the next 30 years, his firm grew to more than 30 designers, writers, and web and video developers. Zane sold the firm in 2006. His own work has included museum and exhibition design, commercial illustration, branding, advertising, multimedia productions and strategic planning. His clients included GE, Microsoft, IBM, AT&T, Lockheed Martin and The Smithsonian Institutions.
In addition to his role on the board of Bayside HOYAS, Zane also serves in a variety of volunteer roles at local schools and in nonprofit organizations supporting the arts, education, entrepreneurialism and the environment.
